No Sanjeev, been through ubuntu a couple of times but not enough to fully control it. Not enough time to do it, although that is on my To Do list.

Hey don't forget a decent monitor! There's no sense in forking out a shed load of cash only to use a 15" CRT monitor!

Though not really hardware, selection of a decent operating system is key.

Do you have much experience with Linux?

totally agree a set of speakers is paramount ot the experience .... Altec lansing are good for the price, maybe you can do a series on computer speakers

Don't forget the speakers my friend, monitors have them built-in nowadays but the quality isn't as great as a separate set of speakers :)
